This particular song was inspired by some of the beautiful lyrics by Hazrat Inayat Khan that he wrote is one of his first publications called “GAYAN”
A very old copy of this book (printed in 1922) in the Dutch language came to me through my grandparents and is a treasure I keep in my shrine.
I translated the lyrics back to English but in my own style and moulding it into a song format with great care not to distort the original meaning.
For those who know the book; it is from the chapter “RAGAS” the 4th poem.
Backing me up on the vocals is the lovely Dutch singer Maartje van Gorp, on the tabla there is my very dear longtime friend Toss Levy (a.k.a. the sitar-doctor) and on the Turkish Ney are some enchanting embellishing melodies played by none other then Ney-master Sinan Arat.
All other instruments are played by myself (guitar, bass guitar and keyboards)
Record and mixed at Studio 108 and mastered by mastering wizard Darius van Helfteren (from Amsterdam Mastering)
