On the 9th day of the annual Sufi Summerschool in Suresnes, Tammo Heikens will take us on a meditative musical journey using sitar and surbahar going from vibrational space into deep silence. This practice is called SAMA amongst sufi's. The surbahar is a larger version of the sitar with a deep bass sound, inspired by the Rudra Veena. Mostly used in the dhrupad style of hindustani music. Because of it's depth it suites itself perfectly for meditative listening and sound healing, transporting it's listeners to mystical dimensions of frequencies and overtones. It is a part of the program of the annual 10 days Sufi Summer school in Suresnes (France) in the historical house where Hazrat Inayat Khan and his family used to live.
